Post-OP Care Instructiions for Planter Fascia and Achilles

1.    We placed a strapping on your foot that needs to be kept dry for 3 days then soak foot to get it off.

2.    Apply the strapping we provided to the bottom of your foot as instructed and keep dry for 3-5 days, the   soak it off our foot.

3.    Start stretching your foot in the morning and at noon by using the towel technique that Dr. Hilaire demonstrated in the office.

4.    At night use ice on affected areas for 15 minutes, then apply Voltaren Gel (making sure to rub in completely) Flector Patch to the affected area.

5.    Never walk barefoot, even for a short distance.  We suggest wearing Crocs footwear in the shower.

6.    We suggest Power Step inserts be worn in your surgical shoe/athletic shoes.You can even wear them in a house slipper around the house.

Morning

1.    After bathing apply antibiotic ointment.

2.    Stretch each foot 7-10 times.

3.    Apply Voltaren gel.

4.    Apply coban wrap around arch.

5.    Insert into surgery shoe. (Put in Powersteps)

6.    Take inserts out of tennis shoes. (Put in Powersteps)

7.    Take Metanx two times a day. (Can take two together)

Afternoon

1.    Stretch each foot 7-10 times.

2.    Apply Voltaren gel. (optional)

Evening

1.    Stretch each foot 10 times. (optional)

2.    Thorlo running socks.

3.    Ice with frozen water bottle, roll back and forth till half melted (Mandatory).

4.    Apply Voltaren gel.
