INTRODUCING THE M.I.N.D PROCEDURE FOR NEUROMA PINCHED NERVE

Women and men often describe an abnormal sensation between the third and fourth toe that often shoots pain in the 3rd and 4th toe.  This condition is called a neuroma and it is a result of irritation of nerves that are between your metatarcals.  This condition is caused by improper fitting shoewear and high heels.  That will increase the pressure in the metatarsal ligments it will put more pressure on the nerve.  Conservative therapy includes, orthotics and a shoe that has a wider toe box.  Sometimes cortisone injections may help. When all fails doctors would remove the nerve.  This would result in permanent numbness between the toes and there could be an instance with a stump neuroma formation or irritated.  Dr. Hilaire has developed a modified minimally invasive technique called M.I.N.D- minimally invasive nerve decompression.  This procedure allows you to get back into regular shoes in less than a week.  It is a stitchless procedure and does not result in permanent numbness between your toes. This procedure is very effective with no post-op swelling or pain- most patients only need one Motrin post-op. The metatarsal procedure involves scaring and a much longer recovery period of 6-8 weeks.
